How to Host a Successful Cocktail Party by Using the Right Tabletop Accessories
If you’re looking to host a great-together for a diverse group of people, whether they are business associates, neighbors, or book club members, a cocktail party is always a great route to take. In contrast to the classic dinner party, a cocktail party usually can last up to 2 hours in length and can be a bit more informal, which can make guests who don’t already know each other a lot more comfortable. A cocktail party also leaves the hostess with a little more creative freedom, now that she doesn’t have to come up with a full menu. With the right combination of drinks, snacks, tabletop accessories and barware, you can host the party that everyone will be talking about for weeks. Here are a few tips on how to ensure your cocktail party will be a success.
1) It’s always a good idea to have a wide-ranging drink selection at cocktail parties. Everyone loves variety, so be sure to have something for everyone. If you want to attractively display your drinks, you should invest in some beautiful tabletop accessories and barware. Instead of just putting the wine bottles on the bar, you can pour them in gorgeous glass Ravencroft decanters. They come in various styles, shapes and sizes and can really impress your guests.
2) In terms of barware, be sure to have enough matching stemware for all of your wine drinking guests, and that they are clean and polished. You should all of the corresponding glasses for each drink. This includes water glasses, martini glasses, straight-sided high balls for tall drinks, and tumblers for spirits and juices.
3) Another handy tool to have behind the bar is an instant wine chiller, so you don’t have to worry about having a perfectly chilled bottle at all times. In addition to the wine chiller, a must for barware is a good bar set. A bar set typically includes a strainer, a stirrer, a double jigger, a bottle opener, and a knife. Some deluxe sets include a shaker, a tray, and an ice bucket. You can’t have a good cocktail party without fancy cocktails, so be sure to invest in a bar set. You really get the full effect when you see that your cocktail was mixed with a professional tool set.
4) Mixers are essential to your cocktail party. Be sure to be fully stocked on mixers like orange juice, soda, tonic, ginger ale, cola, tomato juice, Tabasco, lemons, limes, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce. If you want to go the extra-mile have some garnishes on hand like olives, cherries, or strawberries. Also, it’s important that you have enough ice for all of these drinks. Stock up on ice while you’re out getting the mixers and you’ll be guaranteed to have some happy party goers.
5) A great offering at the end of the cocktail party is some fresh coffee for those guests that need a little pick-me-up after guzzling down cocktails for two-hours.
