Can you tell me a specific ice cream brand that is peanut-free?
My young nephew is allergic to peanuts. We want to invite his family over for dinner, and would like to have ice cream for dessert. Internet search shows many cautions against ice cream because most manufacturers make ice cream on equipment that also process peanuts. But I did find one hit saying some plants make ice cream on dedicated equipment so that there is no possibility of cross-contamination with peanuts. But there were no examples given. And subsequent searches proved worthless. Does anyone know where I can find a list of peanut-free ice creams?
I’m pretty sure food places HAVE to say whether or not the product contains, or was manufactured on machinery that processes peanuts. A few of my sister’s friends, and a few of the children I babysit, are allergic to peanuts, and when they come over or I watch them we look at all the food boxes for the little warnings.
But my favorite thing to do with them, just to be safe, is make your own ice cream. It’s really easy, and it’s fun for the kids.
