What is wrong with my shift indicator for my ’97 Chevy Z71?
I have a ’97 Chevy Z71. I just install a new transmission in it. Now the shift indicator that let u know which gear you are in is not working properly. For drive, I have to put it in neutral. For reverse, I have to put it in the park notch. Before I took the old transmission out, it was working fine. Could it be something wrong with the new transmission? Someone told me that it could be the neutral safety switch. If it is the neutral safety switch, where is it located? Any suggestion.
the selector on your transmission, you installed it incorrectly,
do this,
on your transmission
remove the cable/lever that shifts the the gear, usually it is called inhibitor / selector.
put the shifting lever to park.
move the selector on your transmission to park position,
connect the cable or lever again.
it should be align by then..
