Digital Signs Are Here To Stay
New technologies have meant that the days of static signs and traditional billborad advertising could be soon firmly consigned to the history books. Notwithstanding the fact that messages may be boldly displayed for all to see, traditional static billboard advertising does have its down side.
Only periodic changes to advertisers’ messages are possible when dealing with high-maintenance methods such as static signs and billboard advertising.The upshot of this is to effectively ineffectualise this type of advertising media, as over time the advertising message will become diluted, losing both impact and influence. With the sheer amount of space which traditional billboard advertising demands, it is an expensive option as they are only capable of displaying one particular message until such time as the poster is changed.
The supply of billboard advertising space has firmly entered the digital age. Electronic banners have been around for several decades with their neon lights and single messages scrolling across the board. These types of signs are now moving away from analogue and into the dynamic age of digital screen displays.
Using digital screens for marketing
Digital screens are excellent for marketing, advertising and promotional aids because of the many benefits they provide.
Digital display signs are low maintenance. The number of steps necessary to advertise on a traditional billboard seems crazy today – involving driving, ladders, scraping, pasting and waste disposal. Obviously, all of this is labour intensive, time consuming and of course expensive. As an alternative to these almost antiquated methods and procedures, digital signs represent a modern and cost effective solution.
For many digital signs, it is merely a case of hanging on a wall or pylon, connecting power and a data transfer device. Data transfer is either through an ethernet connection or can even be wireless. Once the sign is erected, messages and advertising are added and changed dynamically from a central location.
Dynamic changes are instantaneous from a centralised computer and made to one or many digital display screens at the same time. Justification – if any was needed – for investing in digital diplays comes from the cost of sign changes alone. Digital sign displays also enable the possibility of specifically and demographicaly targeted messages to be scheduled for different times of the day.
Marketing and promotional campaigns can be made more cost effective by using the same space on digital signs to communicate multiple messages. Running consecutive advertisments allows for maximum impact and thus higher sales and return on investment.
Digital sign displays allow for both exceptional visual impact and superior visibility when displaying large amounts of information, making it a very effective advertising method. Animation and colour draw the eye to the message in a way a flat poster never could. Animated digital displays have a huge sphere of impact and influence over the general public, as any advertising professional will attest to.
In the world of advertising, one of the most powerful mediums influencing potential customers to make a purchasing decision is strategically placed digital signage. They are low maintenance, highly dynamic and offer a high return on investment.
