Planning A Cowgirl Birthday Party
I love to organize a birthday party and to plan a particular theme which appeals to me. In the past I have had some great themed parties, but my favorite has to be a cowgirl party. When I was a kid there seemed to be more cowboy TV programs and films than anything else. I loved in particular the ones with strong, sassy cowgirls in them. Who can forget Doris Day as Calamity Jane and Betty Hutton as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun?
There are so many things to plan for a party: costumes, food, decorations and so on. I love that you get the chance to be creative. The first thing to organize is the invitations. If you are only inviting people in your local area, you can deliver the invitations by hand if you prefer. Or, of course, you can send them out by post. Nowadays, a lot of communication is via email or even through Facebook It’s more fun if you get creative and design an invitation along the lines of your theme. You can find lots of pictures and graphics online that you could use to create your design. You could do it online and send by email or print out the invitations. One of my favourites and in total keeping with the cowgirl theme is to design a wanted poster. This is easily done on your computer, allowing you to add a picture of the birthday girl if you want.
Once everyone is invited then you need to think about a fabulous cowgirl outfit to wear. There are many available online or at a fancy dress shop. Whatever you choose to do make sure you add a cowboy hat, a pair of cowboy boots, a bandana to wear round your neck and perhaps a lasso!
Depending on your budget you can really make the party go with a swing with the decorations you choose. Classic scenes from cowboy movies which you could recreate are a jail, a hay barn or a saloon. Again, you could either make the decorations or buy some ready made to save time. Why not lay the tables with western themed cups, plates, bowls and napkins?
As far as the food is concerned there are some classic cowboy recipes such as beans and franks, chilli or tortillas and salsa dip. It’s good to get everyone up and moving at a party and line dancing is just the thing and perfect for a cowgirl theme.
