Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500ME Acoustic-Electric Guitar
The Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500ME is a high-quality, yet reasonably priced, flat-top dreadnought electro-acoustic guitar. With an emphasis on premium design and craftsmanship, Epiphone Masterbilt Guitars honour the companies esteemed acoustic guitar manufacturing tradition. The Epiphone DR500ME continues that fine tradition with features such as a solid Sitka spruce top with an excellent satin finish; solid mahogany back and sides that contain a tight, straight grain; a one-piece, slim, D-shaped mahogany neck fixed with a traditional dovetail neck joint; an expertly crafted rosewood fretboard with mother-of-pearl split diamond inlays; and a distinctive 1930s-style “offset notch” peghead shaped headstock with historic Epiphone script logo. The DR-500ME is well finished with a high standard of workmanship and has an attractive but understated vintage style.
Not only does the DR-500ME look good but, more importantly, it sounds good. The DR-500ME has nice deep tone that could be described as lower to middle range. With highs that are melodious and clear and lows that are well-rounded and rich the DR-500ME is a well-balanced instrument. The DR-500RE has a good level of volume for a dreadnought with a full-bodied resonance. The DR-500ME has a nice comfortable feel with a good action and quality frets allowing for clear and defined single note playing. The rosewood fretboard is silky smooth that allows you do move up and down the neck with ease.
The DR-500ME features the eSonic2 pick-up and pre-amp system for a great amplified sound. The eSonic2 features individual EQ controls for each pickup – Mag EQ (Nanomag) and Flex EQ (Nanoflex) – to give you maximum control over your amplified sound. You can find the perfect sound by mixing between the two pick-ups with the “blend” slider. The eSonic2 also incorporates a phase button for feedback control, a built-in tuner and volume control knob.
