How To Treat Dark Eye Circles At Home

Our bodies have several ways of showing our age but few are more noticeable than dark circles under our eyes.  Treating these droopy, under eye bags is a challenge many of us struggle to overcome.

There is so much pressure today to look younger, we see celebrities who have an assortment of surgeries and procedures costing thousands of dollars just to look and feel more attractive. Dark circles under the eyes are one of the reasons we become self-conscious about aging so it’s time to stop searching for the solution-in-a-bottle and try some alternative solutions.

The best place to start is to eliminate those few bad habits and practice better, healthier ones. The importance of adopting healthy behavior as part of your skin care plan is essential. Over time it’s easy to take advantage of our body’s ability to repel harmful substances that enter our system. Your routine is a way of maximizing the potential of both your body and skin so they can last longer. Every day you follow your routine, you’ll be helping your skin sustain its health well into your golden years.

Here is a short list of things you can do on your own or find in your home to incorporate into your daily routine to help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes:

1. Grate a cucumber and squeeze juice into a cup. Soak 2 cotton balls in the mixture, then place one over each eye for 15 minutes.
2. Follow above process with a potato.
3. Get 8 hours of sleep per night at the minimum.
4. Mix lemon juice paste, tomato puree, orange lentil flour and tumeric powder. Apply to dark circles with a qtip, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash off completely.
5. Stay away from bleaches and peels that claim to lighten skin.
6. Drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day.
7. Incorporate as many fruits and vegetables into your diet as possible.
8. It’s important to reduce stress by doing things like practicing yoga.
9. Gently tap the skin under your eyes with one finger every morning. This increases blood flow.
10. Avoid scratching your eyes. Instead, gently dab it with cold water.
11. Try dipping 2 cotton balls in rose water then gently dab around the eyes.
12. Make 2 slices of cucumber and place one over each eye.

The cells in our body are sensitive and respond quickly to changes in levels of vitamins and minerals. So try focusing on practicing a healthy diet and if you decide to use a cream or serum to clear dark circles, make sure those products contain natural ingredients.

If you try just a few of these you’ll notice your dark eye circles go away over time while your face gains a younger, healthier look and feel!
